Those Reading Day Costumes sure came in handy today when we realized it was Trick or Treat Time:)
"By the Brook" is the English translation of the German word "Biedebach". 'He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water...' Psalm 1:3

Prickly Friends
We had a whole prickly hedgehog family snuggle together under our "bee tree".
Benjamin with one of the babies.
So cute. the kids and the hedgehogs!
We also had a huge chop chop spider visit us during evening Bible Study! Brian caught the chop chop and Dennis, who was attending Bible Study, agreed to hold the jar for the picture.

Team Work
Because we have a house helper during the week, the children don't have to wash the dishes. They do have to do them over the weekend though:)

Bradley's Party
This is what the back porch looked liked before twenty young lads arrived:)
The golden birthday boy at the head of the table.
The wonderful Dad idea! Another box city like one of the parties a couple of years ago, but this time with tunnels and windows.
Brian is so brilliant at doing the party games. The boys loved it.
Sweet Bradley!

Reading Day
Reading Day at our children's school was started by the first headmaster. This year is the twelfth year that it is being run and the children love it. The day is spent doing only reading activities. The teachers put on a reader's theatre or skit of some sort during the school wide assembly.
Ami decided to dress up as Mrs.Twit from Roald Dahl's book, The Twits. She is not a becoming woman at all, with her hideous nose and glass eye! Ami won an award for the most original costume.
Bradley decided to dress up as Billy Bones from Treasure Island. He won an award for the best costume.
Benjamin was Humpty Dumpty and also won and award for best costume in his class.
All four kids with their friend, Gwen dressed up as Tigger.
This costume, in my opinion , was the best one in the entire school. She dressed up as the fish from Cat in the Hat. I wish we had a side view, it was awesome.
An excellent Thomas the Tank Engine.
Terrible Mrs. Twit
The Mad Hatter, Alice and the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland
Allison was Aurora from Sleeping Beauty
Allison kind of floated as she walked in the parade. It was so cute!
The upper school students did a great job this year. Great effort went into their costumes. The teachers also had fantastic costumes.
Allison and her friend, Luntha
The Spencer family going all out. Love it!

Farewell
This week, after Bible Study, we had a farewell tea for our dear friend Shelley! She is not leaving Malawi, but she is moving to another town which is four hours away. I don't think there was a dry eye in the room. We trust the Lord with His plans and we know that He will continue to guide her and her family as they transition out of Lilongwe. We love you Shel!
